Order of Omega

The Order of Omega - National Greek Leadership Honor Society honors the top 3% of fraternity and sorority members for leadership nationally. Founded in 1959 at the University of Miami (Florida) it has grown to over 300 chapters nation-wide.

Purpose

To RECOGNIZE those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities, to ENCOURAGE them to continue along this line, and to INSPIRE others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment;

To UNITE outstanding fraternity men and women to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate fraternity affairs;

To BRING TOGETHER members of the faculty, alumni, and student members of the institution's fraternities and sororities on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness;

To help CREATE an atmosphere where ideas and issues can be discussed openly across Greek lines and to help work out solutions.

Membership Information

Membership selection takes place each semester and new members are selected by the members of Order of Omega. New members are notified during a tapping ceremony at their chapter meeting.. A one-time Initiation fee is due prior to initiation. Those accepted are not members until the initiation fee is paid.  

Members are selected by the current members each semester based on the following criteria:

• Achieving a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
• Junior or Senior status
• Significant leadership in both the Greek Community and on the UNCW campus
