MALS Part-time Instructor (Onlsow County Extension Program)

E-mail: ferrelll@uncw.edu

Larry recently retired as a Chaplain from the Navy after 20 years of service.  Marine Corp and Navy duty assignments have taken him all over the world.  His academic preparation includes a BA from Lee University, a ThM from Emory University, a MDiv from Church of God Theological School, and EdD (ABD) from Argosy University.

He has trained extensively in such areas as ethics and moral development, substance abuse and addictions, Christian religion, religions and culture, individual, family and group counseling, and individual development.  His training continues as does his work and instruction in these areas of expertise.

Larry serves as adjunct faculty at various institutions of higher learning teaching in the fields of religion, counseling and liberal arts.  His existential philosophy serves as a foundation for his approach to teaching, learning and life.  He also works as a full-time case manager for the Marine Corp’s Family Advocacy Program which deals primarily with domestic violence.

He and his family (three daughters, a son-in-law, and three grand children) all reside in the Hubert/Swansboro area of North Carolina.
