Here are the job responsibilities for the GA. Ultimately, they need somebody who is very comfortable creating newsletters, event planning, and interacting with his/her fellow graduate students.
Specific assignments of duties are as follows:
v Research existing literature relevant to student affairs services/programming for graduate students (Ex. ACPA/NASPA monograph, journal articles) and benchmark UNCW’s level of service for grad students against similar or aspirant institutions; develop needs-assessment tool(s) to identify crucial services or emergent themes of relevance to the grad population.
v Maintain Web site content (grad life page) and author a monthly e-newsletter for grad students.
v Coordinate, in collaboration with the Graduate Student Life Programming Committee, individual social and co-curricular programs for grad students, developing and implementing individual program assessments based on learning outcomes.
v Coordinate a “Grad Student Life Week” of programming and events at a time to be determined by the Grad Life Committee/Council, with a focus on relevant and intentional outcomes for students.
v Plan and implement regular, consistent and effective marketing campaigns of various grad life initiatives.
v Chair the Graduate Student Life Programming Committee as necessary - developing relevant agendas, convening regular meetings, and documenting minutes of committee/council activity.
v Regularly consult and communicate with graduate-level academic program coordinators and directors and outreach to faculty and staff in the various grad program offices.
v Represent the Graduate Student Life initiative on various student affairs division committees as necessary.
v Regularly report progress to Assistant Dean Amy Hector
v Assist with training and development of graduate staff working in the Division of Student Affairs
v Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
