GLS 592: Understanding the Nature of Addiction

This course will review all aspects of addiction, addictive substances, and current theories addressing substance abuse treatment. The student will gain an understanding of how addiction develops psychologically and physiologically. The student will understand the process of substance abuse treatment, it limitations and strengths. Finally, the student will understand the process of relapse and relapse prevention.
