RTH Students Receive Scholarships |
|
For their academic achievement, community and school involvement, Kaitlin Jones and Caroline Goforth received scholarships from the North Carolina Recreation and Parks Scholarship Foundation (NCRPSF) for the 2007-2008 academic year. This scholarship is granted annually to qualified students from colleges and universities throughout the state who are pursuing an undergraduate education in the recreation and parks profession. Both recipients are graduating in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation Therapy. Kaitlin and Caroline are members of the Recreation Majors Association (RMA) at UNCW, North Carolina Recreation and Parks Association (NCRPA) and the North Carolina Recreational Therapy Association (NCRTA). They contribute many hours to the field of recreation therapy by volunteering within the Cape Fear community and by attending annual professional conferences. Both strive to achieve excellence in all that they do and have a passion for improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities through recreation therapy. In addition, Caroline is the secretary of RMA, and is a member of the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi. Kaitlin has recently been elected to the board of directors as student representative for NCRTA and is the ritual chairman for the Gamma Kappa chapter of Phi Mu Sorority at UNCW. Congratulations to Caroline and Kaitlin!
