Athletic Training Major

The mission of the Athletic Training Education Program at the University
of North Carolina at Wilmington is to provide a quality didactic and clinical educational experience for entry-level students into the profession. The program seeks to enhance student learning through supervised clinical experiences in the areas of prevention, recognition, assessment, management and rehabilitation of injuries to the physically active individual. In addition, the program seeks to impart knowledge, skills and problem solving abilities in the areas of organization and administration of athletic training programs as well as education and counseling of the physically active individual. The professional faculty and staff consider their scholarly practice and research essential components of effective teaching and learning by the students. The program seeks to insure quality education by adhering to the standards and guidelines set forth by the profession.
