Recycling Mentors Project

recycle

The “Recycling Mentors” project is focused on promoting recycling in New Hanover County through an intergenerational service-learning project providing gerontology (GRN 440) and health (HEA 301) students the opportunity to work with older adults over 60 in a mentoring project. Students enrolled in both classes will conduct and evaluate a recycling program for older adults. The students from HEA 301 will focus on the how the information collected can be applied to promote community level change while the students from GRN 440 will use the information to explore intergenerational relationships as well as to understand the interdisciplinary nature of the field of gerontology by working with students in another related discipline.
