Nestled in the tall pines between the Honors Residence Hall and the International House, the Gerald Shinn Plaza is a special gathering place to come and enjoy the warmth and beauty of UNCW's Campus. This beautifully crafted architectural feature, with its wrought iron dome and stone-walled courtyard will certainly foster discourse, learning, and socialization among students.
Over one-hundred members of the university family came out November 6, 2001 for the dedication of Shinn Plaza. Dr. Shinn was on hand with his grandson and other family members. He spoke with patrons of the university whom he had forged friendships with over the years, university officials and directors who lead the programming he began, and students who will use the plaza he so humbly accepted in his honor.
