My aspiration in life is to do my part to better the lives of those around me. I have chosen to pursue a career in medicine because I feel this will allow me to be a healer while also fueling my fascination with biology and chemistry. I cannot think of a more rewarding and interesting career path for me to follow. I also have a passion for music, which I view as another form of healing. I enjoy singing and playing various instruments in my free time. I was heavily involved in the music department in my high school in Charlotte, North Carolina and that has had a profound and lasting effect on my life. I know UNCW will provide me with the tools I need to be successful in medical school. Every day of studies at UNCW makes me feel closer to my dream and I am so grateful to be here.

Deciding to come to UNCW was a great choice for me. The beach, people, and marine center programs are incredible, and Wilmington even has an ice rink so I can skate and still feel at home with the cold I have escaped from. My interests lie in geology and oceanography, and someday I hope to be able to do research in coastal areas to help the world better understand the affects of rising sea levels.  Outside of academics I volunteer at the Fort Fisher Aquarium, I am an avid unicycler, and I enjoy playing the piano, ice hockey, reading, and cuttlefish.

I am a sophomore here at UNCW, and I am double majoring in Mathematics and Statistics with the intention of completing a Master’s Degree program at NC State for Advanced Analytics.  Analytics is the field of study that uses data to predict trends, and I know that this is the perfect career path for me.  Outside of school, I enjoy reading, socializing with friends, the beach (of course ☺), and baking.  I’m excited to be part of the Fellows program because of the amazing opportunities that the Honors College offers us, and I look forward to continuing my education with this new group of extraordinary peers!
