Healthcare
for Hispanic Immigrants in the United States and North Carolina
This project is a study of the healthcare system in the
United States and how it affects documented and undocumented Hispanic
immigrants. I analyze overall immigration trends among Hispanic populations in
the United States, as well as in North Carolina. This task requires an
examination of various obstacles that this particular group of immigrants face
when trying to access healthcare. I also investigate the healthcare
expenditures of Hispanic immigrants, in addition to how they utilize the
services available to them. I specifically use Tileston
Health Clinic in Wilmington, North Carolina as a basis to study the resources
that are offered to members of the local Hispanic community. Lastly, after
reviewing the obstacles, expenses and available resources, I suggest various
steps that should be taken in order to eliminate or alleviate the obstacles
that Hispanic immigrants face when trying to access healthcare in the United
States and North Carolina.
