The UNCW chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, begun in 1979, is the 222nd chapter of the National Society, devoted to the recognition and encouragement of superior scholarship in all academic disciplines. Phi Kappa Phi Undergraduate Study Abroad Grant Competition
45 grant awards for $1000 for 2010-2011 are available. The competition is open to all undergraduates in all fields and is available for both members and non-members. Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship
Active members of Phi Kappa Phi who will be entering a graduate program are eligible for either $5,000 or $2,000 competitive awards. Chapter 222: The Charter Members of the UNCW Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi are: Gilbert Bane, Grace Burton, David Dean, Carol Ellis, Samuel Garren, James Halsey, Haskell Hart, Timothy Haywood, Lucinda Hollifield, Marvin Margolis, Marcee Jo Meyers, Lewis Nance, Rebecca Sawyer, Fred Toney, and Larry Usilton. The first UNCW faculty member to be inducted into the UNCW Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi was Lee Johnston, who currently professor in the Public and International Affairs department at UNCW, and the advisor for Phi Eta Sigma.
