The Department of Health and Applied Human Sciences at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is recruiting a full-time Lecturer in Parks and Recreation Management. This is a 9 month renewable contractual position to begin Fall 2010. The position requires a minimum of an earned Masters in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or related field and a successful record of teaching at the college level. The ideal candidate has interests and professional background in recreation management, program planning, event management, risk management, and experience in supervision of student internships. This position will serve as the Internship Coordinator for the undergraduate parks and recreation degree, therefore, candidates must have the ability to work collaboratively with individuals and community agencies.  Other duties include student advising, university, departmental and community service.

The University of North Carolina Wilmington is one of the sixteen public senior institutions of higher education in North Carolina. The growing campus of approximately 12,000 students is located in a historic port city on the Cape Fear River within five miles of the Atlantic Ocean. Health and Applied Human Sciences is the most multi-disciplinary department within UNCW with majors/programs in Athletic Training, Community Health, Exercise Science, Gerontology, Physical Education, Recreation Therapy, and Parks and Recreation Management. The Parks and Recreation Management undergraduate curriculum currently has two options: Public/Non-Profit and Tourism/Commercial Recreation, with an anticipated third: Recreational Sport Leadership.
