The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks a tenure track assistant professor in the area of chemical education to begin August, 2010. The successful candidate must have either a PhD in chemical (science) education with a graduate degree in a traditional chemistry area or a PhD in chemistry. A demonstrated record of education and research experience in chemical education is also required. Teaching responsibilities include introductory courses in chemistry and senior seminar. The candidate is expected to establish a vigorous, externally fundable research program in chemical education, and to eventually become coordinator of the general chemistry program. The Department is typically among the top 25 nationally in the number of ACS certified BS majors graduated every year and offers a masters degree in chemistry that includes chemical education.
