Assistant Professor - Coastal Processes and Policy

Tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Coastal Processes and Policy. Start date is August 2013.
The University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks a tenure-track faculty who will be responsible for developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in coastal processes and natural resource policy as well as supporting the current environmental studies curriculum. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in GIS/remote sensing and with a research program that focuses on current environmental problems associated with coastal environments in one or more southeastern U.S. ecosystems. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or ABD (finishing within the first academic year of employment) in environmental science, coastal processes and policy, or related discipline, have a strong commitment to teaching, and be able to develop a dynamic research program. Successful candidates will have the ability to teach and conduct research within the interdisciplinary context of the fields of coastal processes and current coastal management, policies, and practices with an Environmental Studies focus. Teaching duties include introductory courses as well as upper division courses, and additional upper level and graduate courses developed in his or her area of expertise.
