THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA WILMINGTON:  The Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates should have advanced training in quantitative techniques and will be expected to teach graduate statistics and substantive courses in their own area of expertise.  The research focus is open, but individuals with specializations complementing existing departmental strengths in substance abuse/psychopharmacology, aging and cognition/dementia, mental illness in corrections/forensic, or behavior analysis/developmental disabilities are encouraged to apply.  Candidates with specialization in social psychology/health disparities are also encouraged.   Applicants should provide evidence of outstanding research potential and must demonstrate a commitment to obtaining extramural research funding as well as a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

UNCW is a 13,000 student comprehensive university located on the North Carolina coast.  The department has 34 full-time faculty members and serves 700 undergraduate majors and 65 graduate students. The department has been authorized by the NC Board of Governors to plan a doctoral program.  A Ph.D. in psychology must be held or completed within the first academic year of employment.  Although research and teaching are the primary responsibilities, service is also expected.  Salary is competitive.  The position will begin in August, 2013.  Members of ethnic minority groups and women are especially encouraged to apply.
