The University of North Carolina Wilmington is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Dean of Students. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Students and will contribute to the direction and supervision of the office. The Office of the Dean of Students provides leadership by consistent development and implementation of policies, programs and services which promote and assist students in developing skills relative to student development, accountability, responsible citizenship and community standards. The Assistant Dean is responsible for oversight, planning, vision, policy development, implementation and evaluation of the university student judicial system; serves as a conduct hearing officer; assists with the investigation of Title IX student sexual misconduct cases; manages crises involving individual students and student groups; serves on the Student Behavioral Intervention Team; assists in the assessment of student development needs and designs programs to respond to those needs. In addition, the Assistant Dean is responsible for the publication and implementation of the Code of Student Life and assists with the coordination of crisis management response for the Office of the Dean of Students.

A Master’s degree in higher education administration, student development, counseling or closely related field is required. Candidates must have a minimum of four years of professional experience in a progressive student affairs environment, including direct work with the campus conduct process and a working knowledge of higher education law, including Clery and Title IX. Candidates must show evidence of strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent writing skills. Previous experience in alternative dispute resolution is desirable.
