Visiting Research Assistant Professor of Marine Science

The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for a Visiting Research Assistant Professor for a dual appointment in the Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography and the Center for Marine Science. The primary responsibility of the position is to conduct research in coastal physical oceanography. Specific areas of interest include: coupled human-coastline dynamics, video-monitoring of coastline dynamics, coastal morphology, rip currents, and surf zone processes. Other areas of interest will be considered that fall within the broad field of coastal physical oceanography. The position will include opportunities to teach undergraduate physics and graduate marine science courses to be determined in consideration with the applicant’s background. Office and laboratory space is available at the Center for Marine Science ( http://www.uncw.edu/cms/). This position is a two-year appointment starting as early as February 15, 2014. Candidates are expected to have completed a Ph.D. by the time of appointment. Salary for this position is $40,000 annually plus benefits.
