The University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks to fill a full-time (40 hour) position in the Counseling Center through December 31, 2008 with opportunity for extension, pending funding. The successful candidate will be a generalist who is multiculturally competent and affirming and who possesses specific interests and experience in providing services which support the mission of a dynamic university counseling center. Responsibilities will include: individual, group, and relationship counseling, outreach programming, crisis intervention/on-call rotation, consultation, assessment and other duties, as assigned. Additional position duties include providing substance abuse assessments, brief substance abuse services and assisting with substance abuse treatment referrals.
The successful candidate will have strong administrative, interpersonal, oral and written skills; a commitment to actively engage in practice with diverse populations (racial/ethnic, LGBTQ, ability, gender, SES, etc.); have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and constituent groups; and an appreciation of the developmental perspective of counseling services.
Requirements: A master’s or doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology, counseling, or social work; at least 7 years of post-Master’s clinical experience including a minimum of 5 years of substantive substance abuse treatment experience; at least one year of clinical experience in a university counseling center; and current licensure in the state of North Carolina.
Salary is competitive. Time-limited positions are eligible for a full benefits package. The position is available as of April 1, 2008.
