Associate Director, Center for Teaching Excellence

Academic Affairs is searching for an Associate Director for the Center for teaching Excellence. The principal responsibilities of the Associate Director are to plan and implement programs in the areas of course and curriculum development, new teaching methodologies, innovative instruction, and faculty development; including new faculty orientation. The Associate Director will also provide individual and department level consultation to help promote effective teaching on campus.
This is an at will appointment which may be renewed following review. Salary will commensurate with rank and experience. Candidates must be tenured faculty members at UNCW.
The Associate Director is expected to be a respected teacher and scholar with multidisciplinary interests. Other important characteristics include:
- the ability to work with diverse academic and administrative groups
- an interest in ceating and working with faculty, staff, and student networks
- an ability to create and coordinate faculty-centered teaching programs
- an ability to develop/publish faculty resources for innovative teaching and learning
- a demonstration/record of interest in pedagogy and learning methodology/scholarship of teaching
- an interest/skill in working with a variety of university units and offices
- an interest in working with faculty at all career stages to improve teaching
The Associate Director will coordinate with other faculty professional development on campus. Additionally the Associate Director will work with the Director in overseeing teaching development incentives, and will encourage innovative collaborative strategies for interdisciplinary, cross-disciplinary, and multi-disciplinary work in teaching.
Minimum qualifications are:
Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in the applicant’s field.
Must have a rank of tenured Associate or full Professor.
Preferred:
Prior administrative experience and/or experience working in an interdisciplinary environment
