The Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography invites applications to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2008. A Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field is required. We seek an individual with expertise in fluid physics and/or computational fluid dynamics who can collaborate with members of the university’s Center for Marine Science. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in physics and physical oceanography, and demonstrate potential for establishing an active, externally-funded research program involving undergraduates and masters-level students. UNC Wilmington has nearly 12,000 students, and is rated one of the top 10 public universities in the south by US News and World Report. The University occupies a spacious campus in southeastern North Carolina, near the historic district of Wilmington and five miles from the Atlantic Ocean.
