The History of Wilmington in Black and White, a non-credit short-course taught by historian Tim Tyson and gospel singer Mary Williams. Led by North Carolina’s own Tim Tyson (author of Blood Done Sign My Name), senior scholar at the Center for Documentary Studies, the course will furnish a wide front porch on Southern history. Weekly lecture, interviews, live music, poetry, dramatic performances, film clips, and opportunities for discussion. The six-week non-credit course will be held on Thursdays, Sept. 18 - Oct. 23, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Williston Middle School Auditorium, 401 South 10th Street. There is a nominal fee of $5 for students. It includes course materials and Dr. Tyson has generously agreed to give each registered participant a copy of his book, Blood Done Sign My Name. Non-UNCW students may register for the course @ http://www.uncw.edu/dpscs/ for a fee of $75.
