Investigating Nature through Science Teacher Active Research (INSTAR)

Project INSTAR, an Earth Systems Science Teacher Institute focuses on marine science education and technology training in coastal marine environments. INSTAR provides an innovative approach to professional development for middle and high school teachers.

Providing 2 graduate credits, the NC INSTAR took place in Wilmington, NC from June 13-20, 2003.  The group (shown here!) conducted  field work, analyzed samples in the lab, compiled GIS data and made maps, and relaxed at the beach house at night to discuss K-12 curriculum. We even made the Wilmington Star News!

The group was staying in a house at Wrightsville Beach! You can see the house and all the particulars at: Bryant Realty, Allen House, 318 Waynick Blvd.
