Project materials Each participant will receive a tool kit with materials for the week and to take home. Such as: water testing kits, a geotechnical gauge, sight level, soil sampling tube, etc... A binder of background and project activity materials will be provided. Pens will be available, but please bring a notebook for your yourself.
Gear Weather is generally warm and humid during the day and night, often with thunderstorms in the afternoons. Shorts and t-shirts are generally enough, but a light jacket or heavy shirt may be nice if there is a cold front. Long pants and shoes with socks are required for field work. Please bring a rainjacket for use on fieldtrips, an umbrella is useful at other times. Hats and sunglasses are recommended. Shoes will get wet and dirty, so please bring outdoorsy shoes. Sandals are nice to have when we return to the vans.
Accommodations Participants will stay at a house on Wrightsville Beach and will need to bring their own linens (bedding for single bed, and towels). Food Breakfast will be at the beach house, catering will be provided for lunches, and 2 dinners will be at the beach house, the rest at participant's choice.
