Application Procedures :
Electronically submit the following information.
- An email of support from your home institution's study abroad adviser-
The adviser's email should include the student's name and email address. Within 1 business day, the student will be emailed a login and password to access the Electronic International Student Data form.
- Electronic International Student Data Form - This electronic form requests biographical and financial information that our office uses to create your immigration document. The immigration document is used to obtain your US Visa and to allow you to enter the United States. The form also asks questions which promote the safety of the UNCW Campus.
- UNCW Exchange Student Pre-Registration Assistance (Electronic Form) -
UNCW Students begin registering for courses in late October/March and some courses fill up quickly. You may have difficulty getting into full classes if you wait until you arrive to register for courses. We try to minimize that problem by pre-registering you for courses that you request.
To find course information for the upcoming semester (Spring 2009), go to SeaNet, select "Detailed Class Schedule", then choose the upcoming term (Spring 2009). To complete the Pre-Registration form, you will be required to use your unique login and password. You will be able login and update your pre-registration requests until October 10th.
Please submit the remaining information by mail.
- Official transcript (in English) and a list courses you are currently taking - A copy of your transcript will be given to UNCW professors to show that you have met the major requirements and prerequisite requirements of the courses you wish to take.
- TOEFL score (if from a non-English speaking country): minimum score of
71
on the Internet-based exam,
197
on the computer-based exam, or
525
on the paper-based exam.
- A copy of your passport bio-page or other photo ID - This information helps us create your immigration document DS-2019. It is very important that the spelling of your name on your immigration document exactly matches the spelling of your name in your passport.
- Proof of Financial Support - Federal regulations require that students demonstrate proof of financial support to cover living expenses and tuition & fees. Consult the fee schedule to determine the amount of support you must show. Proof of financial support can be any of the following:
- documentation showing personal proof of financial support
- a letter of support and documentation showing proof of financial support from a sponsor
- an Athletics award letter or TA/GA award letter/graduate department sponsorship form
- a letter of funding support from your government.
- Items 1-4 must be issued within the past 6 months—older items will not be accepted. All personal and sponsor “poof of financial support” must be on blank letterhead; a letter from the bank or a bank statement are acceptable. A web printout, as long as it has the student’s/sponsor’s name and is on bank letterhead, is also acceptable. Copies/scans/faxes are acceptable, but students must take the original proof of financial support with them when applying for a visa
Once we process your application we will send you a letter of admission, immigration document (form DS-2019) and further instructions on registering for housing, meal plans, etc. We look forward to assisting you; if you have questions, please email Amy Mabery.
