Annual Network Registration for Campus on All Computing Devices - August 13

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

To increase the efficiency of our campus network registration system and abide by IT Security best practices, on Monday morning, August 13, ITS will perform our annual cleaning of the network registration database. After we complete this process, faculty, staff and students will be prompted to re-register their computers and networked devices (including laptops, mobile phones, tablets, game consoles, iPads, etc.) when connecting to an off-campus Internet site.

IMPORTANT:  Faculty, staff and students will not be able to access UNCW email and some additional UNCW online resources until after re-registering computers and devices.

On Monday, August 13 (or the first time accessing the Internet after this date) faculty, staff and students need to do the following:

-  Restart computers and or devices and browse to a non-UNCW website (i.e., Yahoo, CNN, Google, etc.) to trigger the re-registration process. Note: Device will be redirected to a secure "UNCW Network Registration" Web page, which will request information such as the client's UNCW username and password, a description of the computer/device and several other details.

-  Fill in the information requested and restart computers/devices for the registration process to complete.

This process ensures our campus networking infrastructure will be ready for the fall semester.
