ITS Service Alerts in Email

Monday, November 19, 2012

To more promptly inform the campus of unexpected, broad-impact outages, Information Technology Systems (ITS) is implementing ITS service alert emails, which will replace the more detailed TAC emails that are sent when there are unscheduled outages. An alert will be sent to the campus when a system (e.g., Blackboard, mySeaport) is down and then again when it is back up. This alert system allows ITS to communicate with the campus more quickly in the event of an outage.

A new feature allows you to “opt out” of these service alerts. If you would like to opt out, you may do so starting on Wednesday, November 21. Just go to and follow the instructions on the right side of the page under “Manage Your Alerts.” You will also be given opt-out instructions in each of the alert emails.

Please note that opting out will remove you from email alerts for unexpected outages. It will not remove you from other ITS / TAC communications, including emails announcing scheduled downtimes. If you have any questions, please contact the TAC at 962-4357 or
