It is important that all users develop a habit of managing their e-mail files. Below you will find information on mailbox sizes and some helpful links.
Faculty and Staff receive 250 MB of space on the Exchange server. The default e-mail settings are:
240 MB - You will receive a warning notifying you that your mailbox is getting full, but it's just a warning.
245 MB - You will still be able to receive e-mail but will no longer be able to send messages.
250 MB - Your mailbox is closed, and you will not be able to send or receive until messages are archived or deleted from the server.
Students (Grad/Undergrad) receive 1GB of space on the Exchange server. The default e-mail settings are:
990 MB - You will receive a warning notifying you that your mailbox is getting full, but it's just a warning.
995 MB - You will still be able to receive e-mail but will no longer be able to send messages.
1GB - Your mailbox is closed, and you will not be able to send or receive until messages are archived or deleted from the server.
E-mail mailbox size and how to find it
To determine your mailbox size from within Outlook, right click on your mailbox (it will say, Mailbox - Your Name) and select Properties. Click on the Folder Size button and you will see a breakdown of all your folders.

- If using the Premium version hover your mouse over your name on the left hand side to display your file size.
- There currently is not a way to check your mailbox size using the light version of OWA. If you would like assistance please contact the Technology Assistance Center (TAC) at 910-962-HELP (4357).
