Your first step is to determine what activities and tasks you want to perform on your computer. That will help with the decisions you make about the computer system you need and will help you decide any options you may want to add to the base configuration in any of the programs listed.

These systems will give you full compatibility with your campus systems. You can use these systems both on and off campus for the greatest flexibility. When you create a presentation on your personal system and then have to give it on campus it's good to know your personal system will work seamlessly.

GOOD VALUE
UNC System-wide Computer Purchase Program for UNCW Faculty and Staff
This link gives UNCW faculty and staff access to the UNC System Personal Purchases Web page. These systems give you the best value. The computer specifications are not as extensive as the other programs, but you get a good computer for the money.

EXTENSIVE SELECTION
Dell’s Full Catalogue at a Discount
This link gives UNCW faculty and staff access to Dell's full catalog of computer equipment at a discount price.

Computer Based Training

300 courses are available free for UNCW Faculty and staff. Courses can be played live over the web or downloaded to your computer. A great professional development opportunity for all employees.

Microsoft Software
The following Microsoft products are available to UNCW Faculty and Staff free of charge for home use via the Microsoft Campus Agreement:

*Office Professional for Mac or PC
- PC (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
- Mac (Excel, Entourage, PowerPoint, Word)
*FrontPage (included in Office)
*Publisher (included in Office)
*Microsoft Operating Systems
- PC (Windows 98, 2000, XP)
*Visual Studio (available for PCs only)

The above software will need to be checked out, installed and then returned to the Technology Assistance Center located in Hoggard Hall, room 131.

Norton Anti-Virus
This product helps keep your computer and system virus free.
You may obtain a copy for home use through the Technology Assistance Center (TAC). You will need to bring a blank CD-R to the TAC in Hoggard Hall 131 and they will burn a copy of the software for you.
