Every student that has an active e-mail account has a personal web page directory. Your directory name is the same as your e-mail username.
Please read UNCW's Responsible Use of Electronic Resources policy.
You must have a file / home page named index.html in your folder for your web address, student.uncw.edu/username to work correctly.
Your URL will be: http://student.uncw.edu/directory_name/
The directory name is the same as your exchange email account name.
Editing Student Web Pages
It is recommended you create an index.html file for your Web folder on a disk or local hard drive for editing purposes. Once you have an index.html you can copy (using FTP) the file to your Web folder. There are a couple of ways to create/edit your Web page:
- Use a web editor (FrontPage, DreamWeaver, etc.)
- Use a text editor to write the html code.
Uploading Web Pages
There are a couple of different ways to transfer your files depending on your OS.
-
If you use Windows, you can use either an Internet Browser or WS_FTP.
-
If you are using a Mac, you can use either an Internet Browser or Fetch.
If you have questions, please contact the Technology Assistance Center at tac@uncw.edu.
