MarineQuest Airline Information
The MarineQuest staff is more than happy to pick-up and drop-off students at
Wilmington International Airport at no cost. An airline request form is required
(see above link for more details).
Residential FAQ's
• Linens are not provided - bring XL twin sheets, pillows, and blankets.
• Laundry facilities are available at no cost - bring detergent
• No electronic equipment (other than cell phones) is allowed.

Surf-n-Science Groms: Ages 10-13
Must have completed 4th grade and turn 10 by June 1st
Get stoked for a "swell" week of learning the science behind surfing while you rip it up on the big blue ocean with Surf-n-Science Groms! This week long program has paired surfing with marine science to provide young marine enthusiasts the opportunity to develop surfing skills while gaining a real education in modern marine science. Learn how marine science has inspired the way surfing has developed into the amazing sport it is today. Explore ocean physics and board design, create your own surf art project, and compete in a MarineQuest beginners surfing contest. Familiarize yourself with surfing and paddleboarding equipment, techniques, and safety while gaining the skills needed to become a lifelong surfer. You will leave Surf-n-Science Groms with a surfer's tan, a scientist's brain, and a smile on your face!
Field excursions include:
- Wrightsville, Carolina, and Kure Beaches, UNCW Center for Marine Science, Coastal Ecosystems
Highlights include:
- Daily surfing lessons led by professional surfing instructors; daily hands-on marine science based field and lab experiences; stand-up paddleboarding; interaction with surfing professionals; beach trips; beginners surfing contest; discussions on coastal/shoreline issues, ocean chemistry, marine life; surf art project; and more…
