The marketing banner on the UNCW home page is designed to market university-sponsored events or information targeted to broad, external audiences. Visitors to the home page are able to click on the marketing banner, which takes them to another Web page where the event, program, etc. is explained in detail.
The marketing banner is located in the center of the UNCW home page, just below UNCW’s Strategic Goals.
- The background of the banner will remain teal.
- The size of the banner is approximately 4” x 1”.
- There will be no graphics on the banner other than the sash located in the upper
right-hand corner that states: READ MORE. - The number of characters will be limited (24 for headlines, 40 for subheads), so that the font size is large enough to be easily read.
Rules governing use of the UNCW marketing banner:
- Priority (not exclusivity) will be given to events not already promoted via other links on the university’s home page (e.g. Athletics, News and Events, etc.).
- Only university programs, projects, events, partnerships etc. will be marketed via the banner.
- CAS, individual UNCW schools, departments, etc. will not be promoted on the banner.
- Individual faculty or staff members will not be promoted on the banner.
- Promotion of events, projects and programs from student groups, community groups, vendors or other outside entities will not have use of the banner (e.g. SGA, University Book Store Sale, etc.).
- In most cases, the advertisement will be posted to the UNCW home page for a minimum of one week. However, if the banner is available, an advertisement may be posted for only a few days or for longer than one week. The advertisement may be pulled by the requestor or during a UNCW emergency.
- Marketing banners may be posted multiple times. For example, a summer camps banner may be posted one week…then be displaced by another university event…and then be posted once again on the home page.
Requesting use of marketing banner:
- Submit a request form at least two weeks in advance of desired posting date.
- Marketing and Communications (MaC) will review the requests (verbiage, approvals, links, etc.) before posting to the UNCW home page. MaC reserves the right to accept or reject a request for use of the UNCW marketing banner. MaC also reserves the right to edit submitted verbiage.
- In order for a request for use of the marketing banner to be considered:
- Requestor must have the approval of a member of the Chancellor’s Expanded Cabinet (i.e., dean, provost or vice chancellor) before being submitted.
- Requestor must provide suggested verbiage for the banner.
- Requestor must provide a specific link (URL) to which the visitor will be connected. The page should describe the specific UNCW program, event, etc. being promoted, and not just take the visitor to the college’s, school’s or department’s home page. (Note: MaC will need a four-week lead time to create a linked page. The requestor should make every effort to provide that page.)
- Requestor must indicate the optimal time for posting, including the initial date, ideal length of time for the posting to remain on the site, and date for termination of the posting.
