Hometown news releases are prepared when students receive scholarships, are initiated into honorary societies, receive awards of achievement or are awarded research grants of distinction.

Students interested in informing their hometown newspaper of their accomplishment should complete the hometown news release form and return it to the department or university official who instructed them to complete it. The university office or personnel who requested the student to complete the form should fill out the section verifying the student accomplishment and include their departmental contact information before forwarding it to the News Bureau. In the case of scholarships, the news release form should be returned to the financial aid and veterans services office.
