Ph.D., Forestry with a concentration in Natural Resource Management -North Carolina State University, 2000.

M.S., Recreation Administration from the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill, 1979

M.A., International Relations - University of Southern California, 1975

B.A., Psychology - Wake Forest University, 1970

Bio:

Dr. Herstine served as Director of Parks and Recreation for the Town of Chapel Hill from 1983 – 1988. He also served as the Wilmington District Manager for the North Carolina Division of Coastal Management from 1988 – 1992. Herstine is currently a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Parks and Recreation Management at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
