Common dolphin Unusual Mortality Event
VAQS 20081012 - Common dolphin (Delphinus
delphis) that stranded at Mill Point Creek,
Virginia
On March 2, 2008 through March 5, 2008, multiple strandings of common dolphins occured along the coasts of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina labeling this event as an unusual mortality. Four common dolphins were transported to UNCW for necropsies. The results of these necropsies are being posted to the unsual mortality event website to be unified with other strandings.
