This Florida manatee stranded last fall and was necropsied behind Dobo Hall on October 14, 2005 with volunteers from the stranding network. Planned necropsies like these provide an excellent forum for training and educating stranding volunteers on marine mammal biology and anatomy. Gross findings upon necropsy indicate that the manatee likely died from cold shock.
