EWC 002 Striped dophin (Stenella coeruleoalba)
A live striped dolphin stranded on the beach in
Kitty Hawk, NC
On Christmas Day morning a live striped dolphin stranded in Kitty Hawk, NC. NC Wildlife Commission, and UNCW and NCSU Stranding Programs provided a colloborative response. The animal died naturally within minutes of the stranding team's arrival on the beach. Overall the carcass was in very good body condition. The dolphin was frozen for a necropsy at a later date.
