Batuque Trio

Featuring Batuquê Trio

Who:
  • Jamaal Baptiste, piano
  • Natalie Boeyink, bass   (*UNCW faculty)
  • Andy Smith, drums
  • Batuquê Trio blends jazz with a myriad of Latin jazz styles, from the folkloric roots of Cuban and Brazilian music to contemporary trends in Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and Caribbean jazz. The three members of the trio are all educators and performers who have given clinics at the Jazz Education Network’s annual conference as well as the Percussive Arts Society International Conference.
  • Justin Hoke, guitar (*UNCW faculty)

For: High school jazz rhythm section students (piano, acoustic and electric bass, guitar, drums)

  • Full day of masterclasses and small group coachings by Batuquê Trio
  • Performance by Batuquê Trio
