Jazz Guitar, Jazz Studies

Robert Russell is a lecturer in jazz guitar. He teaches jazz guitar and improvisation, coaches student combos and directs the UNCW Jazz Guitar Ensemble. Russell plays guitar with his own jazz groups as well as with other Wilmington-area jazz and rock musicians. Russell has three CDs currently in release: "Home Game" (2010), a jazz date recorded live with fellow faculty member Mike Waddell, "Bob Russell's Ego Trip" (2010), a collection of Russell's original rock songs, and "Watch This!"(2002), fea-turing his original jazz compositions. Russell has presented at academic conferences such as the European Conference on African Studies (Leiden, 2007) and the International Conference on Afro-Hispanic Stud-ies across the Disciplines (Accra, Ghana, 2007).
