singing and dictation exercises they will study melodies outlining the I, IV, V, and
vii (dim.) triads, nonharmonic tones, two phrase melodies, modulation to closely
related keys, and all intervals. Harmonic dictation will include the study of the
function of all diatonic chords, some secondary dominants, and four part chorale
phrases. Basic keyboard study will continue with major scales, all forms of minor
scales, chord symbols, and simple harmonizations.

be seven tests given to include one keyboard exam, one sightsinging exam, and
five combination dictation exams. The final grade will be based on the total
number of points (seven tests plus quizzes) divided by the following percentages:
90-100=A, 80-89=B, 70-79=C, 60-69=D, Below 60=F.
