Higher Ed Students Attend Conferences, Showcase Research

Thirteen graduate students enrolled in the higher education program at the Watson College joined assistant professor Andrew Ryder at the NASPA conference in New Orleans where Ryder was a presenter. Two students and a recent graduate joined assistant professor James DeVita at the ACPA conference in Tampa where DeVita was a presenter. Both conferences were held in March. Students showcased their own work at an event at the college on May 6.More

Pre-Service Teachers Volunteer at Family Science Day

Twenty-eight students enrolled in Watson College undergraduate programs joined math faculty and more than 20 community partners, including UNCW’s CESTEM and MarineQuest, for a day of science exploration and discovery at the NC Aquarium in Fort Fisher on April 19. The event, part of the NC Science Festival, attracted more than 1,500 participants.More

Sole Sisters Founded by WSL Michaela Moran Helps Children Around the World

Watson Student Leader Michaela Moran and her sister Ariana started the non-profit Sole Sisters in 2013. The organization collects sneakers for donation to people in need around the world. This summer the sisters will personally deliver sneakers to children living in an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico, a trip made possible by Sole Sisters’ affiliation with the Corazon de Vida Foundation and a Keds Career Grant.More

Students Showcase Documentaries at WCE

Twenty-six students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs at the Watson College participated in the UNCW International Field Experience to Belize during the spring semester. The students created documentaries that they shared with faculty, family and friends at a red carpet event at the Watson College May 7.More
