About
The Slocum glider is one of an evolving class of innovative AUVs that utilize small changes in buoyancy to derive propulsion. Wings and control surfaces convert the vertical motion due to changing buoyancy into forward velocity. Moving both vertically and horizontally through the water column, the glider generates high resolution spatial and temporal data with minimal energy expense. Deployment durations of greater than one month are possible.
