Description: The focus of the proposed research project is the study of the influence of winds, tidal currents, and mesoscale frontal variability as they relate to reef-scale advective/diffusive transport processes along the Upper Florida Keys reef tract. Specific interest resides in quantifying transport rates in relation to larval dispersion and retention following a mass coral spawning event by combining high-resolution coastal ocean simulations and in-situ observations.
Date Today's Report
13-Aug-2006 The glider was deployed today from the R/V Research Diver at 1546 UTC about 1.5 miles from the first waypoint.  At 1604 UTC the glider reached the first waypoint and began heading towards the second waypoint.  The glider stayed on track but was taking longer than expected.  At 2255 UTC the glider was recovered in preparation for tomorrow's mission.
14-Aug-2006 The glider was deployed today from the R/V Research Diver at 1301 UTC 4/10 of a mile from the initial waypoint. No emails were being received at surface events -- at 1400 WW restarted Dockserver and issue was resolved. Glider continued on course until recovery at 2000.
15-Aug-2006 The glider was deployed today from the R/V Research Diver at 1344 UTC 4/10 of a mile from the initial waypoint. Glider hit first waypoint at 1358 and continued on course until recovery at 1949.
16-Aug-2006 The glider was deployed today from the R/V Research Diver at 1321 UTC 4/10 of a mile from the initial waypoint. Glider hit first waypoint at 1358 UTC and continued on course.  After 1723 surfacing, the glider missed the following two calls.  LH and GT departed for recovery at 1930. Glider surfaced and made iridium call at 2017 UTC as expected and was recovered.  Data was downloaded and distributed at 2200 UTC.  We will be heading back to Wilmington early tomorrow morning.
