Project Summary for 2005–03–03: Origins and Impacts of the Sea Fan Aspergillosis Epizootic Explored with Molecular and Field Techniques

Aspergillosis, a fungal disease is significantly affecting sea fan corals throughout the Caribbean. Our detailed and comparatively long–term (about 7 years) monitoring data have been invaluable in documenting disease progress and impact, mechanisms of host resistance, modes of transmission, and providing a better understanding of how environmental (i.e., water) quality affects disease dynamics.
