Project Summary for 2005–04–09: Coastal Ocean and Research Monitoring Program
The Coastal Ocean Research and Monitoring Program (CORMP) deployed six instrumented moorings beginning in March 2002. Each station, depending on location and water depth, consists of a combination of taut–wire mooring with sub–surface buoy, a caged Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), and CT logger(s). The stations are located in depths of 50 fsw to 138 fsw. NURC diving support will be used for servicing the deep installations for routine maintenance and for instrument recovery and deployment dives throughout the year. In the 2004/2005 Grant Year, CORMP plans to relocate several sites and convert some to near–real–time monitoring stations. This may result in changing requirements for NURC support, possibly including installation of subsurface anchoring systems.
Prioritized Objectives: (1) Service and maintain offshore stations for monitoring oceanographic core variables, and (2) collect data from instrumented arrays and stations for long–term monitoring of oceanographic parameters.
Tasks: (1) Establish, maintain and service taut–wire mooring stations and trawl–proof cages by cleaning them and periodically installing new zincs, and (2) periodically recover instruments for downloading, maintenance and battery changes.
