Online Course Development Grants

The Office of e-Learning is offering training for the development of online courses in 2008. This training is specifically geared towards instructors who are NEW to online learning and online course development, including web-enhanced learning. This 2-week workshop series will provide a solid background in online theory and practice, along with the necessary training and skills that will enable the instructor to design quality online courses and increase their expertise in employing cutting-edge instructional technology in the classroom.

Each interested instructor must submit an application to attend the workshop. The application requires the instructor to outline a vision for a specific course to be developed during the workshop and subsequently offered by the Spring ’09 semester. Applicants will be chosen by the Office of e-Learning based on their vision, content area, course selection, course objectives, and future goals of the applicants.

All instructors, who have no previous online or web-enhanced teaching experience, are encouraged to apply.  Instructors who teach core courses and are members of the Foreign Language, Religion and Philosophy, Psychology, and Business departments are especially encouraged to apply.

The selected participants will be required to attend the two-week workshop scheduled from May 12th to the 23rd OR June 16th to the 27th. Those applicants accepted into the seminar must sign a work-for-hire contract that releases the copyright of the developed course to the university. Upon completion, the participants will receive a $5,000.00 grant and Certificate of e-Learning Practice that identifies them as an online course evaluation resource across the university.
