Students in middle schools in the region are nominated by their school counselors, teachers or other school officials. Parental input and commitment is obtained prior to selection. The selected students and their parents/guardians take part in a series of educational events, college planning and preparation workshops, mentoring and support sessions throughout the middle school years.
Participants are automatically considered for enrollment in the College Opportunity for High School Students program when they enter high school. To be included, students must be nominated by a school counselor or official and must be willing to participate in program activities.
