Owen Flanagan is Professor of Philosophy, of Psychology and Brain Sciences, and of Neurobiology at Duke University. Author of Consciousness Reconsidered, Self Expressions: Mind, Morals and the Meaning of Life, and The Problem of Soul: Two Visions of Mind. In 1999, he was invited to attend a small conference in Darhamsala, India with the Dalai Lama on the topic "Destructive Emotions." A book on the meetings, Destructive Emotions: A Scientific Collaboration with the Dalai Lama narrated by Daniel Goleman, was published in 2003.
