            B.4  Grants Related to Teaching

 

Wrote and submitted $142,639. grant proposal to the Department of Juvenile Justice

And Delinquency Prevention/Intervention Bureau, New Hanover County Branch.

Proposal was for the development of a summer 2001 program for at-risk children (K-

6) with behavioral difficulties.  Proposal involved teachers and staff within New

Hanover County School District.  Proposal was not funded due to budget cuts

(summer, 2002).

 

$1500. grant proposal submitted to WSE for updating instructional delivery in

courses taught through increased use of technology  (funded).

 

$7000. grant for WSE to develop and maintain website for the Special Education

Program at UNCW (funded).

 

Wrote and submitted $142.000. grant request to the North Carolina Juvenile Crime

Prevention Council for development of  summer 2001 intervention program for at-risk

Children in New Hanover County (not funded).

 

Received $7000. grant from N.C. Teaching Fellows Program for Summer

educational program on coastal ecology (1989,90,91)

           

UNCW Center for Teaching Excellence award ($2000.) for development of

course on meeting special needs in the middle grade classroom.

 

            B.5  Honors Related to Teaching

 

Pilot tested several units of the Conflict Resolution –Conflict Management

Curriculum developed by the Center for the Prevention of School Violence in the

Department of Juvenile Justice and the Delinquency Prevention for the State of North

Carolina. This occurred during the fall of 2002 within EDN 370 and at the request

Of Dean Cathy Barlow and the Center.
