Off-Campus Resources
- Electricity
- Progress Energy Carolinas, 800.452.2777 Electricity can be obtained in the name of one person with a roommate added as a "secondary customer" on the account. A credit check determines if a deposit is necessary. The amount is based on your address location. You may apply for electric service online.
- Gas
- Piedmont Natural Gas, 800.275.6264 Piedmont Natural Gas offers applications over the telephone and can arrange for payments online. A credit check is conducted to determine if a deposit is required. There are pay stations around Wilmington for customers to pay in person; call to find out the locations.
- Water and Sewer
- City of Wilmington, 910.341.7806 All applicants for utility services must present identification in the form of a valid pictured driver's license or official identification card and a Social Security Card. A home telephone or alternate number is also required.
- Television/Internet
- Time Warner Cable, 910.332.7800 Basic cable service provides local broadcasting stations. Special services, such as HBO, cost an additional fee. Although no deposit is required, you must pay an installation fee plus the cost of our first month's service.
- Telephone
- AT&T, 888.757.6500 or 888.764.2500 This is one local option; see the Yellow Pages for a list of additional telephone service providers. AT&T also offers Internet connections and service packages. A credit check will determine the amount, if any, of the deposit for service.
- Trash & Recycling
- City of Wilmington Solid Waste Department, 910.341.7875 Most residents who obtain water service from the City of Wilmington will also have sanitation service with the city. In most cases, the water, sewer, and trash accounts are on the same bill.
- Local Newspaper
- Star-News, 910.343.2000 The local newspaper is a New York Times affiliate and can be delivered to your home for a fee. An online version also exists.
