Hernandez Award
The

Scholarship
This annual scholarship is named for Professor Emeritus
Marvin K. Moss and is open to students in the physical sciences (Chemistry,
Mathematics, and Physics), with preference given to qualifying physics majors.

Scholarship
Initiated in 2003, this scholarship is designated for
a student who is a declared physics major, married, and who demonstrates
financial need. While the primary consideration is need, the recipient must have
at least a 2.50 GPA on all work attempted at UNCW.

Center for Marine Science
Undergraduate Research Fellowship
Initiated in 2011, the
scholarship recipients are expected to conduct an independent research project
in an area of marine science under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Students
will be required to present the results of their work at the UNCW Showcase of
Undergraduate Research in April . To be eligible for consideration, students
must: Have junior or senior standing; have a declared major in the Department
to which they apply; have a GPA of at least 3.0; and, be able to conduct an
independent research project in an area of marine science under the supervision
of a faculty advisor.

Jefferson Lab
Fellowships
Students have been selected to spend two months of their
summer at the Thomas Jefferson National Laboratory, to assist Dr. Gan in
developing a low energy recoil detector for experiments testing predictions of
QCD (Quantum Chromodynamics). Students in the program are supported by research
grants from NSF and Jefferson Lab.

J. Marshall Crews Scholarship
The J.
Marshall Crews Scholarship for Science was established to honor Dr. J. Marshall
Crews, an original member of Wilmington College and retired senior administrator
of UNCW. Recipients must be a rising junior or senior majoring in science
(marine science, earth sciences, chemistry, mathematics, physics, physical
oceanography or environmental science). It is merit-based and provides tuition,
fees, books and supplies. The recipients are known as Crews Scholars. Contact
the Department of Biology and Marine Biology.
